Durrenbach, Bas Rhin, France
Birthplace of Magdalena Sibler
My great grandmother, Magdalena Sibler Folzenlogel, was born in
the town of
Durrenbach, Alsace, Bas Rhin, France, in 1841. In the fall
of 1979, my cousin
Norbert Young and his wife Ruth visited Durrenbach and took a number
of slides.
When they went to the parish rectory, they found the pastor could
not speak English,
and they were unable to speak French. So he called up a young
woman to serve as an
interpreter. Her name was Annie-Paule Sibler, and she turned
out to be a relative.
The name of the parish church in Durrenbach is St. Bartholomew.
The cemetery was filled with bright flowers and contained a number
of Sibler graves.
With the help of the church records microfilmed by the Church of
Latter Day Saints,
we should be able to compile a chart of our Sibler ancestors.
